The Level 1 Umpiring Course that Gill Troup has organised is going ahead at the moment at The RGS who have kindly hosted the event.
The minimum number for a course is 14. We got so many that they had to get an extra tutor - as well as Andy Nix there is aslo Richard Skippings.
After a minor hitch with the technical side of things which was sorted out by RGS staff Richard Chadwick the course got off to a grand start with final numbers of 26!
This included 8 candidates from Whitley Bay & Tynemouth - 6 Juniors, 1 Senior and a Parent.
The Club has subsidised their fees and hope that their asssessments in the near future will go well.
We are desperate for more umpires in the North East and this is one big step to putting it right.
