Every eight minutes someone in the UK will die from a heart attack; every 13 minutes someone will die from a stroke. HEART UK work to prevent premature deaths from high cholesterol - a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes. HEART UK is the nation’s only charity dedicated to preventing avoidable deaths caused by high cholesterol and other blood fat conditions and provides support, advice and education to help people with high cholesterol – a key risk factor for cardiovascular disease – one of the UK’s biggest killers. Over half of all adults in England have raised or abnormal levels of blood cholesterol and awareness of this potentially life threatening condition is still very poor.
