Just 15 weeks after major heart surgery Ryan returns to hockey and scores a goal!

A truly remarkable story.

Ryan's Story,
Some of you may or may not know that I underwent open heart surgery 10 weeks ago to repair a faulty valve I known about since 2010. Thankfully the operation was a success and my recovery has gone well. As part of my rehabilitation I’ve decided to run the Great North Run at somewhat short notice rather than defer my entry until next year - some might say rather stupidly.
I have only given myself 3 weeks to prepare and managed to get up to 8 miles before a knee injury which hampered my training this last week.
Tomorrow is D-day and the butterflies are well and truly kicking in with extreme apprehension. This is going to be my biggest test yet and I am hoping to just finish the race - rather than achieve my target of 1 hour 25 mins when I applied last year.
This Just Giving page is a very much last minute decision but I felt that even £10 raised is a bonus to the British Heart Foundation. Hopefully next year I can do it again and aim for that target time of 1 hour 25 mins.
Please have your fingers crossed that I can get to the end, and a donation of any amount would be appreciated in view of this mammoth task.
Thanks
Ryan

Ryan completed the 13.1 miles of the GNR in a remarkable 2 hours 26 minutes and 19 seconds!
