The game was a two man/woman Texas Scramble Matchplay Competition.
We "tead" off with a bacon sandwich and the first tee slot began at 12.30. We soon found out we were up against stiff opposition. The Golf Club team consisted of Bex, John McK, Jay, Bob Whitehead, George Harrison, Freddie McK, Fin R, Sam C, Noah R, Jamie S, and Dan H. Bex -Rebecca Ferguson just happened to be the "Champion of Champions" 2017.
Club champions from Northumberland, Co Durham and Teesside, and selected clubs in the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and Yorkshire within Northern Golfer’s circulation area, were invited to compete on the Bishops Course at Ramside Hall on Saturday September 9th.
Rebecca shot "Level Par" to win the coveted title! Their team was strong!
Fortunately, due to the nature of the competition, we had plenty of extra strokes. It was a close run thing but WBTHC just edged it in the end. Final score was WBTHC 3 and a half games to TGC 2 and a half games. We finished off with soup and sandwiches in the club house and Paul Whittaker presented the trophy to our Team Captain for the day - Angela Young.
Many thanks to all who took part and particularly for the great hospitality of Tynemouth Golf Club. The younsters in particular were a credit to their club.
