3 Points at last!

First half goals from Sarah Buckton (3 mins), Joss Plummer (11mins), and Jenny Bradley (31 minutes) saw the home side getting back to winning ways after a series of unlucky results.

Whitley Bay forced the pace from the start and Kendal were unable to match the midfield strength of Ali Gordon and Cath Pendlebury who supplied the platform for the forwards to create a series of chances.

Three first half goals did not flatter the home team and it could have been more as they dominated the first half. All three goals came from open play, whilst several short corners resulted in near misses or saves.

In the second half the visitors fought hard, and won three or four short corners, all of which were repelled; however, the better chances were created by Whitley Bay, Philippa Harmison drawing one particularly memorable save from the Kendal ‘keeper, who saved her team on more than one occasion.

This was a solid, high tempo performance from back to front and whilst another couple of goals would have been welcome, and deserved, a clean sheet and three points were more important.

The result means that Whitley Bay are attached to the leading group in 6th place with a gap of eight points to Kendall in 7th. Next up Ben Rhydding!
