After a solid preseason the Men’s 1s opened up their season against Leeds

After a solid preseason the Men’s 1s opened up their season against Leeds. In less than 2 minutes, they had taken an early lead with a fast break and quick finish by Andrew Titmus through the Leeds keeper’s legs. For the first period of the game WBTHC pushed high and looked to double their advantage but to their credit, Leeds defended well and started to have more possession. Leeds grew in confidence as they kept the ball well and soon scored 2 goals to turn the game around at half time.

WBTHC re grouped and came out in the second half with purpose. They quickly won a penalty corner which was converted neatly by Chris Traynor into the bottom corner. Now Leeds were on the back foot and the home team took full advantage when Andrew Titmus grabbed his second of the game giving WBTHC a 3.2 lead moving towards the end of the game. WBTHC defence stood firm against a series of Leeds attacks but there was little they could do after an umpiring error led to the equaliser and denied the home team a well-deserved win.

Scorers: Titmus (2), Traynor
Man of the match - Simon Miles
