WBTHC stretched their unbeaten run to 6 games with a 3.1win over local rivals Gateshead. Gateshead sat very deep and made it very difficult for the home team to create many clear cut chances. Despite enjoying a large majority of possession throughout the first half it took until the very end of the half for WBTHC to break the deadlock when James Redpath lifted the ball over the diving Gateshead goalkeeper to give them a deserved half time lead.
During the second half WBTHC controlled the game, again having huge amounts of possession but struggled to kill the game off with a second goal. Gateshead defended in large numbers resulting in a very congested Gateshead defensive area. With 13 minutes remaining and WBTHC in total control the unthinkable happened and Gateshead managed to grab a equaliser after a break down the left wing and a tap in at the back post. WBTHC looked stunned and angry but knew they still had time to create chances. Almost immediately and to the relief of the home team Andrew Titmus finished from close range to regain the lead, followed shortly after with a third goal from Will Smith to give the game a score line which reflected the home teams dominance throughout the game.
Goals: Redpath, Titmus, Smith
