WBTHC men's 1s got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3.0 win against Ben Rhydding.

The home team started the game with high intensity and enjoyed much of the possession throughout the first half as they patiently looked for ways to break down Ben Rhydding who were defending deep in large numbers. The opening goal came after good work down the right hand side by Will Smith who found Chris Traynor free in the circle to apply the finish from close range. WBTHC continued to push forward looking for a second goal and the pressure eventually told when Traynor was again on hand to double the lead when he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball neatly into the far corner to finish off the first half.

Although being 2 goals down the away team continued to sit deep making it very difficult for WBTHC to add further goals, despite their dominance in possession. Blair Fotheringham in goal for WBTHC, although largely a spectator throughout was forced to make 2 excellent saves from breakaway short corners and make sure the away team had no way back into the game. Finally, in the closing 10 minutes the pressure finally told and Traynor was able to complete his hat-trick with a finish low into the bottom corner to round off a solid team display.

WBTHC travel to Formby next week.
