WBTHC travelled to newly promoted York City, who have started the season well. York started the game at a fast pace and looked to hit their forwards as early as possible with long direct and accurate passes from the back. This tactic caught WBTHC on the back foot and York quickly grabbed 2 well worked goals in the first 10 minutes. WBTHC quickly adapted and started to look more dangerous as they started to find their passes. A well won penalty corner was dispatched low and hard by Alex Belshire to pull a goal back for the visitors. WBTCH committed men forward to find the equaliser and this duly arrived before half time, when a great passing move was finished from close range by Alex Lockey to leave the score all even at 2.2 on the half time whistle.
With confidence building, WBTHC took control of the game and calved out a hand full of golden opportunity’s early in the second half including 2 with only the keeper to beat, however sloppy finishing meant none were converted. This almost cost the away team as York broke and won 2 short corners at the death. Thankfully Jordan Thompson was on hand to save both attempts.
A frustrating day for WBTHC in a game which they should have converted a lot more chances, however a point for both teams was a fair result.
