WBTHC men’s 1s hosted Bowdon 2s on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways after 2 draws.

The game was very open during the early stages and both teams had early opportunities to take the lead. Bowdon had the ball in the goal first, however the goal was disallowed as the shot was taken out of the area. Shortly after WBTHC did take the lead, when Hall fired through the keepers legs from the top of the area with a quick shot. Soon Hall was on hand again to double the lead when he slotted the ball passed the advancing keeper after good build up play from the home midfield. With WBTHC now in control, it wasn’t long before they had a third when Jackson burst into the D, firing a powerful strike towards Lockey, who deflected home from close range. Bowdon hadn’t given up yet despite the scoreline and reduced the deficit to bring the score to 3.1 with a well finished reverse stick stroke into the bottom corner. The home team would have the final say of the half however, as Titmus was on hand to finish with a reverse stick shot of his own to make the half time score 4.1.

During the 2nd half Bowdon were forced to commit men forward in search of goals, however this left them vulnerable on the counter attack and soon Titmus grabbed his 2nd and 3rd to complete his hat trick and put the game out of reach at 6.1. During the final 5 minutes, WBTHC lost concentration knowing the result was already decided. Bowdon took full advantage of this and managed to grab 2 goals, the last coming from the penalty spot. An action packaged game finished 6.3. A great team performance from the home team despite switching off in the last 5 minutes.
