WBTHC started the game in great fashion, keeping possession well, whilst patiently looking for opportunities to attack at pace. Their flying start soon paid off as WBTHC took the lead when a break and cross from the right was met superbly by James Redpath who’s first time shot flew like a missile in the top corner. Moments later the lead was doubled, when Andy Titmus latched onto a Stoddart through ball and finished from a narrow angle. Ben Rhydding looked shell shocked, however they somehow found a way back into the game with a goal of their own after sloppy marking in a tightly packed penalty area. The situation got worse for WBTHC as Andy Hayes was sent to the sin bin for taking an ariel above shoulder height. WBTHC worked extremely hard with only 10 men to protect their lead, and got their reward for the hard work when Alex Lockey got amongst the goals to give WBTHC a 2 goal cushion.
Ben Rhydding, although under pressure did not give up in the second half and flew out of the blocks. Ralph Heppell was soon in the sin bin for a bad challenge and the away team took full advantage scoring 2 quick goals to bring the game level at 3-3. WBTHC looked deflated and the game was very much in the balance. Determined to not let a lead slip after they did last week, WBTHC upped their game with work rate which can only be described as heroic forcing fantastic team goals from Dobison, Titmus and Lockey to round off a excellent team performance.
