WBTHC Men's 2 travelled to Morpeth to face the early pace setters in the league. The away team started the brightest and pressed hard to prevent Morpeth settling into the game, but despite the early dominance WBTHC were unable to create any clear cut chances. Mid-way through the 1st half the home team caught the WBTHC defence on the break, against the run of play, to take the lead. Further disappointment followed as Morpeth converted a 2nd opportunity to go 2-0 up. The away team, a little shell-shocked after such a positive start, went missing for the remainder of the 1st half and Morpeth we able to score a 3rd before half time.

WBTHC regrouped at halftime and came out fighting and again pressed hard in search of a way back into the match, however the home defence remained firm to frustrate the visitors. As WBTHC continued to press the home team were able to get a 4th to really put the game to bed. The visitors thought they had managed to pull some pride from the match with a deflected shot from a free hit only to be denied even that by the umpires who insisted the hit be retaken. The final whistle came shortly after to bring the match to an end.

Although it was a very disappointing result there were a few positives for the away team who played some good hockey in patches, which they will be looking to build on in the coming weeks.
