After defeat at the hands of Gateshead last week WBTHC needed to bounce back against Durham city on a cold Saturday afternoon. The home side started strongly and struck first as Andrew Wilson slipped the ball to Richard Gregory to hammer home. Gregory got his second shortly after as he swept in from close range after more good work from The Red midfield. Durham City pressed forward towards the end of the half and almost scored when the home defence were forced to clear the ball off the line. However this pressure opened up gaps at the back, allowing Richard Gregory to square the ball to Elliot Gough on the far post, who controlled and swept home the third goal of the game.
The visitors came out after half time looking to get back into the game and WBTHC had to weather several short corners but were able to keep Durham to a few half chances. Finally with two minutes to go The Yellows were able to force in a goal but the home side were able to see out the remainder of the match, maintaining a 100% home record at The Parks.
Dan’s Man of the Match: Elliot Gough, a good all round performance capped by a well taken goal.
